Korry Hogan, The Last Run?

I reluctantly write this article on Korry Hogan's crash at Martin Michigan last weekend AS I don't write these type of articles. Other websites are better suited for that.

I say that as being around Pup on Grand Island and later his shop on Hinman Avenue years ago it was one of his biggest fears that someone would have a tragic accident on one of his creations. Pup was in it for the winning but very well knew the downside was there.

As the frames got better and the speeds went up, so did the risk. Korry crashed again and once again walked away.

“I am never getting on that bike again, I am done with it,” Korry reiterated.

The 5.78 was the second quickest Top Fuel Motorcycle run of all time. 10-time champ Larry “Spiderman” McBride has run has the quickest run of all time at 5.74 seconds.

Korry Hogan is back to his day job right away after crashing Mike Dryden’s Top Fuel bike at over 246 mph during a session at US 131 Raceway in Martin, MI. Amazing we can report that.

On his Facebook page Hogan wrote, “On my way back home to Denver; definitely gonna be sore today. Being blown off a motorcycle over 246 mph and walking away with a few scratches is definitely going to lead to my retirement. Ran my career best lap 5.78 at 246 and blew off the bike. The bike is pretty bad off but I walked away from a second, 200 mph crash. I’ve had enough and I appreciate everyone’s concern and help.”

Below I will add the story from the web pages I did on the original build way back in 2002-3.

And so a new project begins....

I have moved to a new shop and all the machines are up running...I have started a new bike even though we are still putting away and organizing things (this could take weeks or more)....

This is a T/F bike owned by Mike Dryden and will be ridden by that pesky Canadian, Geoff Pollard...eh...!! More photos will follow as work progresses..

I welded up the rear section and put it back on the jig. I'm now making the front frame section, these are the lower frame rails, the backbone and seat rails will be next.....

It's almost ready for final welding now....

Pup called and said he still didn't know html well enough for his website and wanted the build shots to be included on what became a very popular thing we did on Stripbike was the "Spy" photos and stories. I jumped on that! We did the stripbike pages then altered them for Racevisions.com.

Those days were special. Special as Pup was a vampire of sorts and worked nights and would call at odd hours. Dwight and I would mess with him at times and call him from a track knowing he was asleep!

With that, enjoy the old pages. I am sure this story does not end here.

Thankfully, Korry is OK at this point, and whatever the future holds, the bike is gone but the memories last forever. I'll incude a few of my favorite shots at the track.
