Angie Smith misses U.S. Nationals line-up

Angie Smith’s team wasn’t able to get Karl and Kim Klement’s Coffman Tank Trucks Pro Stock V-Twin Motorcycle down the O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis quarter-mile Sunday quick enough to send her into Monday’s Mac Tools U.S. Nationals.

“It’s very disappointing,” she said, “but that’s drag racing. We had five qualifying tries. We are trying some new parts on my new bike, so we took baby steps early in qualifying. We just couldn’t get it to run quick enough.”

Her best qualifying run was 7.057 seconds at 188.04 mph.

“Will work on everything and get it ready for our next race (at Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 17-19),” she said.
